Sly Cooper steals your PS3 saves and puts them on the Vita in Thieves in Time

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time was officially announced last year, a teaser trailer was included in the Collection in 2010, as part of Sony’s press conference and since then things have been a little bit quiet. That however has all changed now with some news that should make PS3 and Vita owners very happy.

This new chapter in the raccoon burglars tale will be available for both PS3 and the Playstaion Vita supporting cross platform gaming. That’s right, both games will be the same, with only a drop in the frames per second affecting the handheld version. Thieves in Time will have one trophy list that is fed into by the game on both platforms along with your saves connecting between the two. This will allow owners of both versions to play in the comfort of their own home and then transfer the game to their portable console to take it on the go, letting you continue wherever you may be.

As most of you know however the Vita doesn’t sport the same amount of buttons as the PS3’s controller, namely the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons. These will be substituted however by the touch screen and touch pad on the device – the gyroscope function will also be used to let you guide projectile weapons.

Personally I never played the original Sly Cooper games but the idea of having a game that connects between my PS3 and Vita allowing me to play wherever I am has put Thieves in Time pretty high up on my wishlist. Hopefully we’ll see more from the game and the cross platform play as we approach E3 in just a couple of weeks.
