Mounted Combat Arrives in Newest Skyrim Update
This has nothing to do with being on a horse, looking up, down, and turning tickets into diamonds. This isn’t an Old Spice ad. This is Skyrim finally getting things right, and Bethesda has said that in the newest 1.6 update to the game, we’ll finally be able to be more epic than Link on Epona.
We’re gonna go kill us some bad guys on horseback.
Since Elder Scrolls first stormed onto the scene back in the day, we’ve been treated to some stellar stuff by the team at Bethesda Game Studios. But we always wondered — why no mounted combat? Did we really saddle up to ride off into the snowy mountains only to get off, hit a bear a few times, then saddle up to ride off again? What a pain.
“Like the recently added Kinect support and new kill cameras, this highly-requested feature that was seen in the Skyrim Game Jam video is arriving for free,” reads the latest post on Bethesda’s blog.
Yes, it will be free. There won’t be an arrow to the update’s knee that will suddenly make you pay for it.
“In fact, by opting into the latest Steam Beta Update, PC users can check out the feature today,” continues the post. “As far as release on other platforms, we’ll let you know when we have more information.”
PC players, you better get on that Beta Update right now and slay bandits on horseback. Guess us console players will have to wait for a while yet, but we’re hoping it won’t be for long. In regards to the Dawnguard DLC, Bethesda promises to show some new stuff soon. We’re going to guess that we may catch glimpses at E3.
Mounted combat will allow players to perform both ranged and melee combat while on horseback.
