Rumor to Reality: EA Confirms Dead Space 3
It was inevitable that Visceral and EA bring us another chapter in the Dead Space universe. Over the last year, leaks, rumors, and whispers said that the project was indeed in the works. Nothing said it was official, even though Visceral said back in 2009 that Dead Space might be a trilogy in the long run.
That all changed today, as EA has confirmed to IGN that Dead Space 3 will be shown in all its vicious glory at E3 next week.
“We’re excited to unveil Dead Space 3 to the world at the EA press conference next week,” the publishing company said to IGN.
Details are still scant on the game, but thanks to a graphic novel trailer released earlier this week, it seems rumors of an ice planet setting have been confirmed. The introduced character of the trailer, John Carver, also seems to bear a striking resemblance to Isaac Clarke’s alleged new co-op buddy. Yes, there will be Necromorphs, and the haunting Marker will make a return.
As if the official confirmation wasn’t enough to get us excited for the debut trailer, several screenshots have found its way onto the web. Following the leak of the Dead Space 3 logo and the first screen shot showing Isaac floating towards his frozen destination, a few more screenshots featuring Isaac and John in action have surfaced as well.
Take a gander at these snow-covered gun-toting dudes. And some ugly ass Necromorphs:
Exciting isn’t it? EA will begin broadcasting their pre-E3 conference on June 4th at approximately 1PM PST.
