That Damn Rumor Mill: Final Fantasy Versus XIII Becomes Final Fantasy XV

That Damn Rumor Mill: Final Fantasy Versus XIII Becomes Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix continues to boggle the mind with their absurd numbering schemes. As is the trend before E3, some footage leaked from a supposed pre-E3 Square Enix press briefing, and it suggests that Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been remade into Final Fantasy XV. An official announcement is expected to be made at the gaming expo next week.

From what little is seen of the leaked footage, it appears to be an older Versus XIII trailer with a new logo attached to it. And if any of the logos featured at the end of the trailer might suggest anything, the title will be headed to the Wii U (of all platforms) alongside the PlayStation 3. Sorry Xbox players, guess we won’t be seeing FF XV unless we shell out the money for a new console.

Watch the footage, and keep that barrel of salt handy:

Talk upon the internet said that Square Enix would most likely use this year’s E3 as a platform to reveal their next project. Tetsuya Nomura, the man behind Kingdom Hearts and many of the newer Final Fantasy titles, also said late last year that Versus XIII had only just started any serious development.

When the game will release is still a mystery, but at least we’re now starting to see light shed on the game once again. First introduced to the world in 2006, Versus XIII has since fallen off the radar until recent months.
