Lords of Shadow 2 Will Conclude Lords of Shadow Saga, Says David Cox

Dracula never dies. We might believe that he dies, but then he always finds a reason to come back. That guy just never is going to give us up. Seriously.

After the brain-numbing and fantastical ending to Lords of Shadow, Mercurysteam left us with nothing but questions upon our lips. Will we ever know what happens next? Maybe, maybe not, but it certainly leaves room for speculation.

However, it might take some fans by complete surprise (and utter rage) that Lords of Shadow 2 will be the “conclusion” to the Lords of Shadow saga.

“We are pleased to announce the development of the conclusion to the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow saga, giving players an all-new gameplay experience within the Lords of Shadow universe,” said Dave Cox, who is the producer for Lords of Shadow and also the Head of Product Planning and Development for Konami. “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is the most successful Castlevania game to be released in the franchise’s history, and we are looking to provide series fans yet another nail biter, complete with Dracula’s resurrection and the Belmont clan’s desire for his final destruction.”

We’re hoping that this won’t mean the final destruction of the fabled franchise either. While it has had its fair share of ups and downs, fans the world over have always loved the eternal battle between the legendary Belmonts and Count Dracula. Be it good or be it bad, we’ve always liked putting creatures of the night to the whip.

This means we will be bidding farewell to the universe of Lords of Shadow, but if Mercurysteam’s second Castlevania title releases to great success, we’re confident that in the future they will give us yet another Castlevania universe to slay within.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is set to release sometime in 2013 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
