Not One New Trailer, but Two for Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013

Over the past few weeks loads of news has come out for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering video game outing Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, and now we have two awesome trailers to feast our eyes upon before the 20th June release date.

The trailers showcase some of the new elements of the game including the holy grail: manual mana tapping even if the controls to do so are convoluted (Ctrl on Steam and L3 on PSN and XBLA). I must say that they have done this sensibly though: rather than have players select the mana they wish to use and then have error messages slapping them in the face, they merely provide the player with the ability to scroll through the different tapping permutations for the highlighted card.

As for the other trailer, well it’s live action and therefore has no bearing on the game at all. But Jace facing off against Nicol Bolas is pretty cool. Also, we now know it’s PEGI 7 because apparently card based violence is bad for kids. Sometimes I don’t understand this world but in fairness nobody under 7 would fair well with the rules.

Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 comes out on June 20th and is available for pre-order now. Check out the trailers below.

All About Dan Spicer ...

Dan does "What Dan Does", normally involving screwing over the premise of the game just to have fun. When he's not being obnoxious in video games he's doing the same when playing tabletop RPGs and Magic: The Gathering. He's currently studying philosophy in London, and trying to cook as many pancakes as humanly possible.
