Weekly Releases: Skyrim’s Dawnguard, Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut, ResiEvil Chronicles HD

This upcoming week features some interesting new releases, but of course the headlines have already been stolen with Bethesda’s first massive update to the already-life-sucking Skyrim and BioWare’s response to fan backlash.

It’s going to be a world of real vampires and bumps in the dark as the Dawnguard DLC expansion launches on Xbox Live. If you’ve left Skyrim feeling like there wasn’t much else to do, you’d better get back to Fus Ro Dah’ing and avoiding arrows in the knee because dammit, these vampires aren’t going to kill themselves any time soon.

Commander Shepard left us all rather abruptly back in March, and a lot of us weren’t too happy about it. BioWare has listened carefully though, and next week will see the arrival of Mass Effect 3: The Extended Cut. We’ll still be wondering why this wasn’t done in the first place, but whatever — we’ll take what we can get in the new DLC that promises to give more insight into what happened shortly after the end to the Reaper Wars.

Also launching this week are Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection on the PlayStation 3, Record of Agarest War 2, Spec Ops: The Line, and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier on the PC. Will you be shooting your way through Reapers again, tending to evil dragons in heaven, or blowing up stuff? Take your pick — there’s plenty to be had this week.
