The Walking Dead FPS in Development, says Activision

You remember those two rather nasty brothers from The Walking Dead TV show? Daryl and Merle Dixon? They didn’t like to play nice with other people, but now Activision has announced that they’ll be starring in yet another iteration of a The Walking Dead game.

Telltale Games is currently taking the scene by storm with their episodic The Walking Dead games, but the new FPS zombie adventure, helmed by Terminal Reality, will focus on those two unlikely heroes.

According to Activision’s announcement, this game will be about the brothers as they make their way to Atlanta. Players will have two differing styles of play — either go head-to-head (or head to…brain eating?) with zombies for some visceral action, or use stealth to avoid all that nasty splatter.

Supply management and character interactions will be crucial to gameplay as well. Players will find little to no food and ammunition, and will also encounter other characters. These meetings will rarely be amiable, as other characters will have varying motivations for what they’re doing, and tough decisions will have to be made. Just like the TV show, right?

The game is planned for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. A tentative release date has been scheduled for 2013.
