Another Demoralizing Step for Gamers
A while back, a new site popped up on the Internet, Date A Gamer, which was all about helping those that shared gaming as a hobby a date with like minded people of the opposite sex. While I thought the concept was a little weird, considering there are tons of dating sites out there, I could at least get behind it as a way to find a common interest in a date.
But the owner of Date a Gamer could not leave well enough alone with this concept. I mean, if you can set up a site to date a gamer, why not set up a site to promote no strings attached sex with the opposite sex surrounded by gaming as the central concept.
Sure, I love sexual congress as much as the next person, but there is something about a site like this that makes me feel a little more dirty as a gamer, and not in “oooh, dirty joke way”, but in a facepalm way. I mean, can you imagine the hookups that will come out of this site.
“Courtesan looking for an Ezio-like fellow to talk to me in Italian while messing up the sheets”. Or maybe more along the lines of, “COG looking for SWF to help relieve tension after a hard day killing Locust”. The entire premise of this site offends myself as a gamer and it should offend many others. We look to make our hobby something that the mainstream can look to as a positive light, instead of the normal way that it is portrayed by the press. Instead, we now have Shag a Gamer out there to once again, sully the good name of gamers everywhere in the press.
Better still is looking at the promos for the site and one of the first mugs I see up there is wearing an Assassins Creed hoodie. You want to know why you are not getting sex – that might be the reason why. Look, here’s a little secret. Clean yourself up, head out to a bar and socialize. It is a far better way to meet someone, and it does not come with the taint of this obnoxious website that wants $20 a month to hook you up.
Man, me and my computer both need a shower after looking at this website. And no, I will not provide the link to the site as I want no part of condoning those that want to use the site. There are far better ways to meet the opposite sex and none of them require you to spend $20 a month.
