Harvest Souls On the Go While Waiting for Darksiders II to Release
It seems nowadays that when you have a big title releasing, you need to have some sort of mobile app that can tie into the game or help promote it in advance of the game’s release. Darksiders II has jumped on board that freight train when the release of Darksiders Soul Harvest.
With Darksiders Soul Harvest, you can use the app to find those that are checked in around you to “harvest their souls”. As with most games of this type, you can only harvest so many souls in a specific time frame before you have to rest. I will admit that the rest time is pretty liberal, waiting only 10 minutes before I could harvest again. Compare that to the five hours I have to wait for ships to finish missions in Mass Effect Datapad and you realize it is very liberal.
There is some purpose to harvesting souls, as you can win real world prizes, including a life sized scythe, or a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, where the planet killer asteroid supposedly dropped and killed the dinosaurs over 65 million years ago.
The Darksiders Soul Harvest App is free to download, and is in a cross promotion with Best Buy, so if you check in at a Best Buy, you can get double the souls.
Darksiders II is set to hit retail and digital on August 14th, 2012 from Vigil and THQ on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
