Give the Ref an Earful with Kinect FIFA 13

Give the Ref an Earful with Kinect FIFA 13

While I maintain that everything Kinect is either pointless or poorly implemented, the inclusion of the system in FIFA 13 looks like it’s going to be a genuinely fun gimmick. The system will allow you to issue voice commands to make substitutions and formation changes. But where the system really comes into play is in Be a Pro mode. In this mode you play as an individual player and have always been able to press a button to call for a pass or encourage a team mate to take a shot. The trouble is every now and then the ball can run through to you and you’ll end up making an error. So with voice commands you’ll never have that mistake again…hopefully.

Obviously Kinect may not recognise everything you’re shouting at it. “Yes NOW” might not register as you requesting a through pass, but hopefully they’ll build all of those in. Another cool feature is swearing at the officials. Commentators will notice, a cutscene will trigger, and while you won’t get carded referees will become stricter over time. I hope this is a feature you’ll be able to turn off, but it’s definitely a fun idea. Needless to say watching me play FIFA is not for the faint-hearted. Check out the video after the jump.
