UK Gets XL Tomorrow! (Big, Beefy 3DS)

Fans and friends in Europe, Nintendo’s largest handheld console screen ever graces you with its grandiosity tomorrow, when the 3DS XL launches. Been holding out? Silly you. But this is a perfect opportunity to finally jump into the third dimension.

Here’s the scoop from The Big N™:

The new Nintendo 3DS XL, available at launch in Silver + Black, Red + Black and Blue + Black, boasts the biggest screen ever on a Nintendo handheld console. With 90% bigger screens the Nintendo 3DS XL’s surface itself is only 46% bigger than the current Nintendo 3DS – meaning that 3D experiences still comfortably fit in the palm of your hands.

Does size matter to you?

It’s still glasses-free D3 (upper screen only, of course), but this redesigned model also boasts better battery life and a beefier pack-in memory card (up from 2GB to 4GB). This extra space will come in handy if you opt to skip the ol’ boxed retail version and download the new, AAA titles like New Super Mario Bros. 2 digitally, in its entirety.

When not gaming, goof around with online features and apps:

…such as Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Video, meaning that you have access to an array of exciting downloadable games and content.

And that’s not all. Nintendo 3DS XL launches alongside New Art Academy: Learn New Painting Techniques and Share your Art, a new addition to the Art Academy series for the Nintendo 3DS & Nintendo 3DS XL . The larger screen gives you even more room to unleash your inner artist in this comprehensive art studio which awaits. Learn new drawing and painting techniques, experience new art materials and share your art with family and friends via your Nintendo 3DS & Nintendo 3DS XL. New Art Academy features easy to follow, step-by-step guides to a variety of drawing and painting techniques, styles and materials and you will soon be surprised at how easy they are to pick up and how quickly your techniques can improve.

Also launching tomorrow for Nintendo 3DS & Nintendo 3DS XL is Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive!, an expanded version of the Nintendo 3DS Download Software title, Freakyforms, Your Creations, Alive! Create and customise creatures to your personal taste, and bring your very own creatures to life. Your customised creatures are created on a drawing board featuring a large palette of shapes, body parts and colours that can be put together to create pretty much anything. The only limit is going to be your imagination.

Your 3DS XL system still comes with ultra-great built-in games like Find Mii and a few other reality augmenters. There’s plenty to do right out of the box…and the sooner you start collecting StreetPasses, the better. The XL model has been slightly reshaped, so it looks to be a good deal more comfortable during long play sessions.

Once again, the extra-large Nintendo 3DS XL launches tomorrow in Europe. I’m kind of interested in getting one and giving my current model to my son…if only to experience Kid Icarus: Uprising again in BIG-A-VISION™*!
