PES 2013 Licenses 150 Teams (But Only Man U in the Premier League)
Though it’s not a return to the days of Von Mistelroum and Butatista, it looks like PES has once again failed to wrench away licensing from the FIFA powerhouse’s vice like grip on the world leagues. So once again we’ll be seeing London FC take on Man Blue in the fixture list. Konami have managed to confirm exclusivity with UEFA for the Champions League and Europa League for the upcoming season. Additionally La Liga and Serie A teams are all official, as well as some major European teams including Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and CSKA Moscow. But there’s not much else to impress. Official national teams shows PES going back to its roots with the confirmation of England, Italy, Germany and France among many more.
Solid effort on Konami’s part, after all wrenching any control away from EA is to be applauded. It’s just a shame they no longer have the hipster fanbase by making a better game. Lets hope PES 2013 manages to compete with FIFA 13 in gameplay terms, maybe then they can make a real argument with the leagues and clubs against signing exclusivity deals.
