Hey, here’s what that LittleBigPlanet Vita AR thing looks like
Followers of the LittleBigPlanet Twitter feed will have noticed some chatter about posting Sackboy photos, winning stuff and the augmented reality Zappar app. The vague contest details are here (for the US, looks like the UK contest has already finished), but for those of you who might be AR-curious, here’s what’s going on.
Zappar is an iOS/Android app that you point at a Zappar-infused real-world object to unlock AR activities. Like, you point it at your kid’s Skylanders t-shirt and suddenly three Skylanders are animating in the space directly in front of her. Then you can position the characters around the room and pose for silly AR-overlay photos.
The box for LittleBigPlanet PSVita takes it one step further. Not only can you pose a Sackboy in your room, but Zappar will transform the Vita box into a simple jumping mini game. Although the timing sort of sucks on it, so don’t expect anything exceptional. Gallery follows.
Note that you do not need to buy the game. You could do this at the store; Zappar is a free app. Heck, you don’t even need the physical box. A pack shot on the interwebs will suffice. You could do this right now.
