Death Boulder Bones, a “Next Game Boss” finalist, in final days of Kickstarter push
One of the top three competitors on IGN’s recent “Next Game Boss” reality show, Eli Delventhal Death Boulder Bones dropped us a line to point out the last few days of the Kickstarter devoted to funding the game’s completion.
Team lead Delventhal got to have his game toasted – and roasted – by the “Next Game Boss” judges David Jaffe, Lisa Foiles and Jenova Chen. Now it’s your turn to try it out, with a rough alpha demo available as a free download for Windows, Mac and Linux. Death Boulder Bones is an endless runner starring a complete knucklehead. Rather than controlling him, you control his path.
“There is a character who is perpetually running, but instead of controlling him you use your mouse to draw walls, jumps, reverse time, and more stuff like that. You pretty much have a rather dumb rat in a maze that is likely to kill himself without your help,” notes Delventhal.
The game seems like a great match for touchscreen devices, so naturally iOS and Android are in the plans. Check out the demo, check out the Kickstarter, and peek behind the curtain at what it’s like to be an indie developer trying to get started.
Full disclosure: I played Animal Crossing: Wild World with Eli back in the day… but back then he was just somebody with whom I traded fruit and instructed not to dare chop down my trees. How far he has come!
