Paradox Interactive released a free Magicka 2 update which includes an overhaul of the game’s iconic spellcasting system. The game now includes three additional elements to include in spells, added for free to further empower friendship-ending team-killing accidents. The new spell system is out now for PC and coming soon for PS4.
Two of the three elements added make their return from the classic repertoire of the original: Ice, created by combining Cold and Water, and Steam, created by combining digital software sales with a convenient interface. These new elements now occupy just one slot each in a five-element spell, allowing players to finally recombine Steam and Lightning, or Ice and Lightning, or Lightning and Lightning. An all-new element has been added as well: Poison, created by combining Water and Death, which generates a cloud of toxic, life-sapping gas.
“It’s driving me out of my mind,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “That’s why it’s hard for me to find. Can’t get it out of my head – use it, cast it, try it, (wrong button, you’re dead). That spell is poison.”
Additionally, new in-game content is on sale:
- The Gates of Midgård Challenge Pack, a set of three new Challenge Maps, perfect for sampling new spells
- The Three Cardinals Robe Pack, a stylish new selection of wizard-wear
- Both can be bought as the Three Cardinals Points Super Pack here
