As part of the Nintendo Direct which took place on March 3rd, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Generations for the 3DS and is currently on scheduled to release later this summer. The game is currently available in Japan under the Monster Hunter X title.

This new Monster Hunter game will be a highly customizable experience and will servce as fitting tribute to the last decade of the series. A mix of brand new areas and monsters join returning fan-favorites which have been updated and adapted to the latest generation of gameplay.

In Monster Hunter Generations, players take up the esteemed role of a hunter, seeking out and vanquishing a variety of colossal creatures throughout the world. Players can earn Zenny and collect resources that can be used for crafting powerful weapons and armor which are styled after the monsters they have defeated. On their journey, players must defend each of the game’s four villages from the threat of major new menaces known collectively as the Fated Four.

MHG also introduces new gameplay mechanics such as Styles and Hunter Arts which allow players to create the most custom, personalized playstyle of any Monster Hunter game yet. Players can choose from four distinct combat Styles, like Aerial which adds the ability to attack and mount monsters from mid-air.

For the first time in the series, players will have the ability to play as a Felyne in the new Prowler Mode. This mode features unique quests playing either as a Felyne alone or with up to three other companions in group quests. With hundreds of quests in store for hunters and Felynes, there are tons of challenges to tackle in the solo adventure, and also multiplayer quests via local or online play, opening up the epic world of Monster Hunter to players of all levels.

Additionally, there will be a unique armor set based on Marth from the Fire Emblem series.
