In a PlayStation blog post, Sean Murray of Hello Games confirmed, after some speculation, that No Man’s Sky (the upcoming space exploration game with a frankly excessive number of planets) will be delayed. The game is now set to launch on August 9 in North America and August 10 in Europe. UK people will have to wait an additional two days because they do not, inexplicably, count as European in this context.
Murray went on to say: “We understand that this news is disappointing. Making this game is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we’re prepared to make the tough choices to get it right… The universe of No Man’s Sky is incredibly vast. More than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn’t been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation”.
Some of the fan reaction to the news of the delay has been, reportedly,
a bit extreme:
I have received loads of death threats this week, but don't worry, Hello Games now looks like the house from Home Alone #pillowfort
