inXile Entertainment released Wasteland 2 in 2014 after a highly successful crowdfunding campaign, and they’re doing it again with the next installment in their post-apocalyptic RPG series. inXile hopes to build on Wasteland 2’s crowdfunded success with Wasteland 3.

“If a platform like Fig had existed back when we kickstarted the Wasteland 2 campaign, investors would have been very happy,” said Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile. “We want to take our Wasteland franchise to a darker and brutal post-apocalyptic setting that builds on the foundation of Wasteland 2. A game that is ambitious in reactivity and with new features like multiplayer and the integration of vehicles into the world.”

Wasteland 3 begins shortly after the events of Wasteland. You play as the sole survivor of a ranger squad called Team November that was dispatched to Colorado, an icy land of buried secrets that’s far removed from the Desert Rangers.

Play solo or multiplayer in turn-based combat that expands on Wasteland 2’s unique encounter design by including vehicles, environmental hazards, and a more fluid action system. Make choices that will open up new areas to explore, mission opportunities, story arcs, and other content.

Set in the harsh frozen wastes of Colorado, survival is bound to be difficult. You’ll not only have to contend with the environment, but you’ll also face moral choices and sacrifices that will affect the in-game world. Your Ranger Base is a core part of the experience, allowing you to help locals and build your reputation as a leader. The game will add depth to the story with a revamped dialogue tree system developed by the writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Wasteland 3 will be released simultaneously on Windows, Mac OS, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Learn more about the project and back it on Fig. All fans who back within the first 48 hours get a free game, either the horror adventure STASIS or the old school turn-based post-apocalyptic RPG UnderRail.
