Welcome to a new One Hour Tour where I play one of my most anticipated games of 2017: Double Dragon IV!
Billy and Jimmy Lee are back and they haven’t lost a step. I guess it helps when you bring back former developers who worked on Double Dragon II: The Revenge on the NES. Double Dragon IV was on my list of my most anticipated games of the year and boy did it deliver. I do apologize ahead as I sound like a giddy little kid. This game hit all the right note for me.
For those who may have not had the chance to play the NES games, Double Dragon IV is an old school beat’em up. While the game features a few more moves than its predecessor, the combat system is pretty barebone, but that’s what makes it fun; it’s part of this game’s charm. Levels can vary between 2 and 8 minutes but it’s just pure fun.
In a bit over an hour, I managed to play the game through the first 10 chapters twice, getting my butt handed in Chapter 11. Both times. But I still had fun.
On that note, enjoy!
