Each week we’ll give you the low-down on the games that have been keeping the GGS Gamer staff busy on their consoles, PCs and handhelds.

Here’s what we’ve been playing this week …

Jay

  • Dark Souls 3 (PS4) – The fire fades and it was my duty to return to Lothric to aid my fellow ashen one through the darkness in jolly co-operation as we slayed any beast that stood in our path. The Super Sun Bros. saved the kingdom from great peril and returned power to the First Flame… Or something like that anyway, I just had fun killing beasts and the various monstrosities that lurked around every corner.
  • Yakuza Kiwami (PS4) – I went back to Yakuza after the announcement of the second Kiwami over the weekend. I forgot how much I fell in love with this game when I reviewed it the middle of last year.
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4) – I’m not playing it, I just wanted to inform you all that I finally got the platinum trophy! Yatta!

Viki

  • Metal Gear Survive (XB1) – I don’t even know what to say. There hasn’t been a single moment of gameplay where I’ve enjoyed this, except for the part where I actually cleared a damn mission, because I was so relieved I wouldn’t have lost another hour of gameplay. The stupid thing is, this could have been a good game! The framework is all there for a decent survival sim, but not like this..

Sarah H

  • Divinity Original Sin 2 (PC) – Still playing this and it’s absolutely taken over my life. I’ve dropped almost every other game I’ve been playing to continue my journey towards divinity and I’m already planning my next playthrough. Be prepared for me to not talk about anything else for the next month or so!
  • Hearthstone (Android) – I was looking for something I could play on my phone while riding the train or bus and decided to try out Hearthstone. I’ve learned two things so far. 1) I’m really bad at card games. 2) Hearthstone is really addicting. My phone’s battery is vehemently protesting my new addiction but I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

John

  • Bloodborne (PS4) – Well, Sarah told me that death is a big part of this game – and she wasn’t wrong. I have to admit, the combat of Bloodborne is a lot of fun, making every one on one encounter feel like you can win if you’re just smart about it. And even when I got to the first boss, which turned out to be some kind of furious baby Cthulu, I still managed to get it down to one-third of its health. Then Cthulu junior picked me up and smashed my poor hunter into the ground until he exploded into ash. Haha, it’s fine though… seriously… it’s… it’s a lot of fun.
  • The Council (PS4) – My review for this will be up at some point today, so be on the lookout! The Council’ first episode – titles ‘The Mad Ones’ offers a jaunty melodramatic adventure, full of intrigue, scheming, and spooky visions – which are all things I love!

Sarah

  • Octahedron (PS4) – Not so much playing as turning the game on and then smashing my head against the wall for 20 minutes before turning it off again in a rage.
  • World of Warcraft (PC) – Doing dailes and not much else.

How about you?
