There’s gonna be fallout over this.

The big news from yesterday was that the upcoming online Fallout 76 won’t be available on Steam when it releases later this year.

Instead, the game will only be available to PC player through Bethesda.net. Why? Well, that’s not really been explained. And it’s a fairly big move to have made without any real explanation; previous Fallout games have been available on Steam from their launch dates and continue to draw in a steady player count. But with that in mind, Bethesda hasn’t ruled out Fallout 76 making the move to Steam after the games releases in November.

It could very well be the case that Bethesda is simply trying to up the users of their own platform before releasing the game out to a wider platform. But it will be interesting to see whether or not the move affects Fallout 76’s PC sales one way or the other.
