Microïds announced Toki’s release date for Switch. The physical edition, dubbed the Retrollector Edition, will be available next Tuesday, November 27th, at retail while the digital version will be available December 4th on the Nintendo eShop. First up, let’s take a look at what’s included in the Retrollector edition of the game:

  • Physical copy of the game
  • A mini arcade machine with the game’s colors to house the Nintendo Switch screen
  • An exclusive 16-page Toki comic, with an original story
  • 2 prints
  • 1 sticker sheet

Here’s what the Microïds Vice-President, Elliot Grassiano, had to say about this release:

Philippe Dessoly, Art Director, and Pierre Adane, Lead Developer, have done a remarkable work of offering a second youth to Toki. 25 years ago, the game drew in a whole generation of players and we hope they will be as thrilled by the remake. It is also the opportunity for younger players to discover a genre classic on Nintendo Switch, and to confront a true arcade-like challenge.

Toki is a warrior lived peacefully in the jungle with his sweetheart Miho. Out of nowhere, the evil voodoo sorcerer Vookimedlo and his heinous demon henchmen Bashtar kidnap Miho and turn the poor Toki into a chimpanzee. The now former formidable warrior must now go on a quest to save his girlfriend as a monkey. HIs weapon? His powerful jaw which allows him to fire strange projectiles at his enemies. In order to overcome the various obstacles on his path, Toki will pick up a handful of helpful items such as a football helmet, flippers, snorkel; just to name a few.
