PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on mobile is reportedly getting a taste of the zombie apocalypse in a new crossover event that brings Resident Evil 2 to the popular battle royale.
The information was discovered in a tweet from the Japanese Resident Evil account and translated by Eurogamer. It reads: “PUBG MOBILE × Resident Evil RE: 2 collaboration is decided! What kind of innovative play can be produced by combining the world’s most popular mobile game and survival horror’s monument, two super IPs?”
The tweet also contains a trailer, which you can view below.
It’s not really a lot to go on, and it’s definitely a strange collaboration – not one that would have immediately leapt to mind as being a good fit – so what can we expect? Perhaps a STARS or RPD uniform to wear while you’re going about the business of surviving or maybe you’ll have to contend with zombies as well as other players as you strive for that elusive Chicken Dinner?
PUBG landed on mobile devices in February of this year and despite the recent unrest from fans towards mobile as a platform for already established franchises, PUBG Mobile is doing incredibly well, with over 30 million daily users reported.
With PUBG hitting the PlayStation 4 in a few days and Resident Evil 2 Remake set for release early next year, it’s not a bad time for either game to pull in the extra attention that this collaboration will undoubtedly bring.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices and will launch on the PlayStation 4 on December 7.
