“Did not meet our standards.”

Skybound Games has confirmed that Overkill’s The Walking Dead has ceased development, with the console release for the co-op shooter now cancelled and the game’s PC version will see development brought to an end as well.

The news comes after 505 Games came out last week amid rumours of the game being cancelled to assure fans that it wasn’t true. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case, with Skybound’s statement saying that the title had indeed been cancelled, citing that the game “did not meet our standards nor is it the quality that we were promised.”

Skybound, who owns the rights to the Walking Dead franchise, has said that it’s still open to “alternative video game options for the IP,” though it doesn’t sound as if any projects are currently on the table.
