Watch Dogs Legion has been officially announced for March 6, 2020. The trailer showed off gameplay that confirms many of the leaks we had about the game leading to its announcement. As early details noted, Legion takes place in a dystopian London, with gameplay showing off heavy duty officers being all totalitarian by yelling at people and slapping someone around the head.
From what we can surmise from the trailer, Legion will be about the London branch of Dedsec working to loosen the grip of those authorities that control London. You’ll do this through the usual tactics of drone, phone hacks, stealth combat, which we saw as one character snuck through a weed farm, while you’ll also be accompanied by an AI voice by the name of Bagley, who I hate already.
We saw a bit of melee combat, confirmation of guns in the game (everyone knows how easy it is to get a gun in the UK, right?) and we also saw how large the game’s roster of characters is. As Kotaku reported a while back, Legion will let you control a large roster of characters, with gameplay showing how you can take over a new character after you’ve been killed.
Speaking about the game, Watch Dogs Legion’s creative director Clint Hocking said that the setting of Watch Dogs Legion is a London that’s “facing her downfall,” an imagining tied to Brexity deal to some degree. Hocking confirmed that you’ll be able to “recruit and play as anyone,” with every character having their own origin mission, backstory, and will have individual animations and voice acting. According to Hocking, this means that you’ll be able to customise your Dedsec unit as you like, filling it with a particular kind of character or mixing and matching your resistance.
