inXile entertainment has announced their plans to bring The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut to consoles starting next month. The game will be available digitally first on August 27 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Those who prefer the retail version will have to wait until September 6 before grabbing it off the shelves. The retail version will only be for PS4 and Xbox One.

The Director’s Cut brings a bevvy of new features, fixes, and content, making it the definitive edition. inXile entertainment also addressed the feedback received from the game’s initial launch with thousands of fixes and tweaks.

Those who already own the original game on PC will receive a free update bringing all new features to the existing version:

  • A new end-game chapter that adds hours of additional content
  • New enemies, items, and weapons, including dwarven master-crafted weapons
  • Thousands of fixes and improvements
  • Refined and more feature-rich UI
  • More class/gender character creation options
  • Rebalanced combat and encounters
  • Additional difficulty settings
  • Full gamepad support
