About a month into the new year, and we’re finally seeing more titles that we should be excited about. Hot off the heels of Soul Calibur V and Final Fantasy XIII-2, we’re given the next installation of Resident Evil with Revelations, a young studio’s debut title, and the next chapter in monster-wielding crime families.

Maybe we’re in love with the idea of having a moment of sudden clarity, but both Assassin’s Creed and Resident Evil have reached this moment of sudden revelation just mere months apart. Perhaps there’s more to come in the future? Whatever the case maybe, Capcom looks to bring all that zombie shooting goodness to the 3DS this week.

Joining the party is 38 Studios and Big Huge Games’ first offering ever, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Following a weak show with a botched demo, the game has otherwise garnered great interest both critically and commercially. Whether it’ll be the next Skyrim remains to be seen, but at least it’s showing Lionhead the places that Fable could’ve gone. We won’t break out the Dr. Seuss for this one.

Last but not least, 2K Games brings us the next chapter in Jackie Escado’s life in The Darkness II. While living the life as Don of the Franchetti family could be nice, we all know that crime doesn’t really pay if you’ve got demons inside of you. Literally.

Here is the full list of titles across all platforms and downloadable services in the United States and Europe for the week ending February 11th.

United States – February 7th
- Balloon Pop 2 (3DS)
- Combat Wings: The Great Battles of WWII (X360, Wii, PS3)
- Crusader Kings II (PC)
- Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (PC, PS3, X360)
- Inversion (X360, PC, PS3)
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PC, PS3, X360)
- Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS)
- Test Drive: Ferrari Legends (X360)
- The Darkness II (PS3, PC, X360)
- Jak and Daxter Collection (PS3)

Europe – February 10th
- Catherine (PS3, X360)
- Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (PS3, PC, X360)
- Inversion (PS3, X360, PC)
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PC, PS3, X360)
- Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (3DS)
- The Darkness II (X360, PS3, PC)

FIFA 12 successfully held off against a surge in Modern Warfare 3 sales to remain at number one last week, with Skyrim dropping into third place and Just Dance 3 into fourth. Battlefield 3 remains in fifth place and – finally – we have some new blood in the chart in the form of 3DS title Resident Evil: Revelations which has entered in sixth.

There are still a lot of fitness titles hanging around at the end of January: Zumba Fitness (seventh), Zumba Fitness 2 (tenth), Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 (seventeenth) and Kinect Sports: Season Two (eighteenth).

Today Nintendo announced the latest WiFi character distribution for Pokemon Black and Pokemon White: the original bad boy of the Pokedex, Mewtwo! Starting February 12, American Pokemon B&W owners will be able to download a free Mewtwo into their games. Details about the special pocket monster’s moveset are still to come, but Nintendo promises it will include some very powerful attacks, including one move that cannot be learned by Mewtwo during normal gameplay. Probably three one-shot-KO Psychic Whoozises and a Heal.

The Mewtwo celebration also includes a free stream of the Pokemon animated episode “The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon” at pokemon.com/ex. Plus, Mewtwo will make a return to the Pokemon Trading Card Game in the “Next Destinies” expansion set, expected in US stores in early February. The Mewtwo-EX card has two INSANE attacks on it:

That’s some game-winning attacks right there. Tons of potential damage for two colorless, plus a massive 120-point attack with the minor drawback of dropping a single energy card? I’d splash this guy into every psychic deck I own.

EA’s FIFA 12 is celebrating its fifth week at the top of the chart and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Skyrim and Just Dance 3 have switched places and are now in places two and three respectively; Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 have done likewise and finish at four and five.

Highly popular fitness games Zumba Fitness and Zumba Fitness 2 are in sixth and eighth, and Rayman Origins has leaped into ninth thanks to some clever sales tactics. WWE ’12 has also seen a big jump, from thirty-one to eighteen, as has Cars 2 (from twenty-seven to twenty).

I hope most people are having more luck with their New Year fitness pledges than I am – especially considering the amount of money being spent on sport and fitness games at the moment. Although FIFA 12 is still at number one this week, Just Dance 3 has managed to position itself in second place. Then we have Zumba Fitness which remains at number six and Zumba Fitness 2 which is only one place behind.

Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 enters at number twelve, Kinect Sports: Season Two is at number nineteen and Wii Fit Plus has crept back into the top twenty (just). Phew!

FIFA 12 is still sitting pretty at the top of a fairly uninspiring chart this week with same old faces Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Just Dance 3 and Skyrim make up the rest of the top five.

I’m guessing I’m not the only one to overdo it over the festive period as Just Dance 3 is joined by its equally active friends Zumba Fitness, Zumba Fitness 2, Kinect Sports: Season Two AND EA Sports Active 2 in the top twenty. Zumba Fitness seriously has more staying power than any other game I can think of over the past twelve months. Just when you think its time in the top ten is up for good, it surprises you by catapulting up the chart by thirteen places into number six, leaving even its successor in its wake. Enjoy burning off those excess calories, guys!

As always brackets denote the previous week’s position.

1. (1) FIFA 12
