Help me see through the dust clouds of Journey (spoilers)

So, it may just be me, but I wanted to throw out something I thought about as I watched the final ending for the game Journey. Did anyone else get the idea that the entire journey might have been a personification of traveling through Purgatory into the final afterlife of death.

This was the immediate thought that popped into my head as I travelled into the final light at the end of the game. I went back and in my mind, I found the game to be an expression on finding your way to final peace.

Am I crazy, or could this be a possible undertone missed by others in the gaming community.
