Halo: Reach Beta, First Impressions

The Halo: Reach Beta is here. After appearing at last Year’s E3 in the form of a mysterious trailer, Reach finally emerges from the depths of Bungie Studios and onto our TV monitors. Featuring as a Beta on the disk of Halo: ODST, and also as a downloadable ‘Thank You’ available to those who purchased Halo 2 before the server shutdown. But has it been worth the wait, and more importantly, does it live up to the hype? Let’s take a look. Visually Halo: Reach doesn’t disappoint. Still with recognisable environments and characters, but with a grittier and slightly more realistic look. Halo: Reach is a very pretty game indeed, and certainly does not disappoint in terms of graphics. Being an online-only demo is very clear sign that Bungie really want to focus on multiplayer. And, it’s probably what they do best (Halo 3 is still one of the top most played games on Xbox 360 to this date). The online lets you access game types such as slayer and the newly added invasion. Some game types (such as invasion) favour a Spartan versus Elites format. Elites are now very different to Spartans in a number of ways. Elites can run faster, jump higher and play very differently indeed. This allows the player to think on their feet, causing them to switch tactics and adapt strategies in order to...

Halo:Reach Beta, The Stats

I recently got kindly given a code by my mate for the Reach Beta, and I discovered something. Halo:Reach is popular! Who’d have guessed eh? Bungie has kindly released information on just how many people played the Beta on day one, and it makes for some interesting reading. So here are the stats… Total Players Day One: 1,170,112 Total Player Games: 14,205,611 Total Kills: 157,972,986 Total Seconds Spent Playing: 936,864,266 Blimey! That’s some large numbers you’ve got there. Bungie have reportedly doubled the amount that played the Halo 3 Beta already. Is this really a surprise though? I don’t think so. These numbers will no doubt increase tenfolds as more and more people join up and get fragging. For more Halo:Reach Beta information check out the official site Source:...

What-We’re-Playing-Wednesday (October 11, 2017)

Each week we’ll give you the low-down on the games that have been keeping the GGS Gamer staff busy on their consoles, PCs and handhelds. Here’s what we’ve been playing this week … Vikki Destiny 2 (PS4) – Got my alternate character (Warlock) up to 302 now, which means this week I’ve mostly been grinding milestones, doing public events, and wasting hours getting re-used to the Warlock jump again. Still haven’t done much of the raid because getting six people together simultaneously is like walking on fucking water, but I’m still trying! Grand Theft Auto 5 (PS4) – Okay,...

Right now I’m getting my alt characters powered up, and religiously working through the weekly milestones. I...
