Jun Takeuchi, Resident Evil 5’s producer, recently announced that he is taking a break from the Resident Evil series. Takeuchi expressed that he held felt extreme pressure producing Resident Evil 5, after Resident Evil 4, produced by Shinji Mikami, had such great success.
Takeuchi told Xbox World 360 Magazine, “Yes, it’s true we did feel extreme pressure – and Mikami-san’s shadow – after Resi 4,” Takeuchi added. “However, because we were creating the sequel to this huge franchise we wanted to make our fresh direction clear.” Takeuchi continued on to announce that he didn’t want to ‘deal’ with Resident Evil 6, and would be taking a break from producing the series for at least another four years.
However, fans of the series must not fret about a lack of a new Resident Evil within the next four years. Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who assisted Mikami in creating Resident Evil 4, has currently been working on an unannounced project for Capcom. We can speculate that this might be Resident Evil 6, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

OMG. I want that hoodie of his SO BADLY.
Anyway.
I have a soft spot for RE5, even though I don’t really think of it as a RE game in the ilk I grew up playing. That said, I’m looking forward to RE6, with the hope that it goes back to its roots, you know?
Hahah, I really want his hoody too. That’s actually part of the reason I chose this photo. <_<
Yeah, I enjoy RE5 and RE4, but after playing the originals I find that they're just so much more enjoyable for me. I really do hope that RE6 is made more like the Lost in Nightmares DLC, because that was a nice mix of original RE style and current RE action-shooter style. I would also love if they kept co-op an option. But not like an automatic, you always have a partner with the AI if not with an actual person type. Because AIs just aren't smart enough yet to properly interact with an allied human player.
