The ‘most successful Piano Album of all time’ is not a phrase you hear too often round these parts. Actually, especially these parts. But low-and-behold, such a prestigious label has been bestowed upon Chris Huelsbeck and Sound of Games’ latest Kickstarter project, ‘The Piano Collection’.

The world famous video game composer buddied up with Sound of Games with the mission of bringing their new album/book combo, The Piano Collection, to fruition. After all the undoubtedly extensive math had been calculated, $10,000 was the sum decided upon by both parties to get the project off the ground and potentially completed. Well, after 66 minutes on Kickstarter, $60,000 was what they had. With 6 days still to go…

Raising such an absurd amount in such a short time on Kickstarter not only secured them the legendary status of ‘Most Successful Piano Album of All Time’ (and let’s be honest, that can’t be something that’s awarded too often), but also ensured that The Piano Collection will definitely see the light of day – and then some.

The book/album, by the way, contains piano arrangements of some of the best known Huelsbeck classics from C64 and Amiga and will be played by Huelsbeck fan Patrick Nevian. In addition to the currently confirmed scores, which include The Great Giana Sisters (Medley), R-Type Theme and Apidya, Michael Stoeckemann and Filipp Issa from Sound of Games will be producing a limited Biographical Scorebook. This will contain all the piano pieces as sheet music and stories about Chris’ career, in addition to all the video game scores already featured. Strictly limited to 500 copies, the Biographical Scorebook is very nearly sold out, but interested fans can still purchase digital copies of it.

If you like video games and piano music (and who doesn’t, am I right?) then the download version of The Piano Album is available for just $19. If you’re more of a physical kinda guy or girl, a CD copy can be purchased for $29, and for $20 more both can get the Scorebook as a PDF.
