Altogether now: “Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you’re part of a team!”
Yes, everything is infinitely cooler when you’re part of a team, something The LEGO Group, TT Games and now Nexon Ltd. know all too well it would seem, as the latter party recently announced that they’ve entered into a licensing agreement with TT Games.
But what does this mean, Russ?! I hear you cry! Well, what this means is that soon iOS and Android users will be able to play a brand new free-to-play LEGO RPG on their mobile devices…and when I say ‘soon’, I mean 2016 (what did you expect, they’ve only just decided to work together!). There aren’t too many details floating around in regard to what the game will entail, but what is known is that the new mobile RPG will incorporate online features and include several of the hit LEGO franchises, including Ninjago, as well as many other fan favourites.
Of the new partnership, Owen Mahoney, President and CEO of Nexon, said: “LEGO is among the most wildly successful and iconic brands of our time, and we are thrilled to be teaming up with TT Games to bring LEGO-based online games to mobile gamers. Players can look forward to the fun and unique game experiences that Nexon is known for, along with the LEGO characters they have come to love. This agreement is the most recent example of Nexon’s ongoing quest for creative, new ideas for great games, both through our own development and by partnering with other creators of world-class IPâ€.
Now, I love LEGO and this all sounds pretty sweet to me, but if any of you had any reservations about Nexon’s new involvement in the block-building company’s gaming division, Tom Stone, Managing Director of TT Games, has these reassuring words for you: “Nexon’s relentless commitment to quality and fun, their expansive global footprint and their strong track record of developing and sustaining successful franchises around the world make them an ideal partner to expand LEGO into online free-to-play mobile games for the first time. This agreement leverages Nexon’s unparalleled expertise in online and free-to-play games and the power of the LEGO brand to deliver unique, high-quality game experiences to players around the worldâ€.
Sounds like everything is awesome to me.
