I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I’m free.

With that quote, Dominic Toretto, Brian O’Connor and other characters started a franchise that would grow to become an epic spectacle of near car porn with the Fast and Furious movies. The movies have become a tentpole summer movie staple and will add a new entry in the series this April with Furious 7.

So why all the Fast and Furious narrative? Because in a weird marketing promotion, Playground Games has teamed up with the production company for Furious 7 to create a standalone expansion for Forza Horizon 2 called, “Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious”. This standalone title will feature 11 iconic vehicles from the Fast and Furious franchise, including Toretto’s classic Dodge Charger. Chris “Ludacris” Bridges will reprise his role as Tej Parker, handing out missions for you in an open world area comprised as a part of the south of France.

Now, is where some education might be in order as the game takes place between the events of The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift and Furious 7. Of course, you might think, “wasn’t Tokyo Drift the third movie in the series, why does 7 come after 3”. Well, you probably shouldn’t put too much effort into that thought. Just know that it was because the primary principals in the movie franchise did not come back for part 3 and only agreed to return to the franchise if certain conditions were met. This is why a character that dies in part 3 could be in parts 4-6. Trust me, just watch the films and you will be entertained regardless.

The best part about this entire announcement for Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious (really, could not come up with a shorter name guys), is that the game will arrive on Xbox One and Xbox 360 completely free between March 27th and April 10th, which is one week before the movie comes out to one week after it is in release. After that, it will set you back $10.
