Here at GGS Gamer we’ve decided to do something a little bit different and that’s why we’ve decided to create a brand new feature, dedicated to gaming memorabilia. If you’re like me, you probably have a love-hate relationship with collecting; collecting is an addiction, once you start, you can’t stop! This week we’re going to be looking at the brand new figurines from the Game Of Thrones series.

In the run up to the new Game Of Thrones Season, HBO have released a whole new series of cute, figurines that will be the perfect gift for any collector. Included within the POP figures are Daenerys Targaryen dressed in her blue outfit with her slaver staff in hand. John Snow comes dressed with his outfit straight out of the Night’s watch training ground. He also comes equipped with sword in hand. Also brandishing his sword, though looking less threatening, is Samwell Terly. Sasnsa Stark, the eldest Stark daughter is presented in her long black garment posing hands together. The somewhat calculating and shrewd Petyr Baelish aka Little finger comes with a similar pose. These charming little figures standing 3 ¾ inches tall are highly detailed and whilst every character is instantly recognisable, the figurines still keep their trademark art style, most symbolically demonstrated through the characters eyes. The paint work on each character is also meticulously done, showcasing that real care has been taken. Given the size of the figurines, they would be a perfect companion to ones work desk or shelf. With a price tag of £8.99 collectors will feel hard pressed not be be tempted into acquiring their very own line of mini Westeros.

However, if you prefer to take your figurines with you, then perhaps it would be worth considering the Pocket POP keys chains. Using the same art style as their taller figurines, these are also decorated with the same level of detail but stand at a shorter 1 ½ inches. John snow comes equipped with his sword in hand, whilst Daenerys is dressed in her long white gown. Again, for the level of detail on show, £5.99 is an extremely generous price that fans of the show and collectables should take advantage of.

Fans looking for the more realistic representation of their favourite Game of Thrones characters need only to check out the new figures from Funko at the HBO store. These figurines priced at £17.99, stand at about 15cm bearing striking resemblances to their actor selves.  The detail on Jaime Lannister and his body armour is very impressive, as is the prominent sword he comes ready to wield. The mother of dragons, Daenery’s is instantly recognisable with her long blue outfit. As well as her iconic blue outfit, Khaleesi, as she is also known comes with her signature whip. Robb Stark, The king of the north, is especially well depicted and comes wearing a cape fitted with fur upon his shoulders. Khal Drogo has been paid special attention to his scars and tattoos. The detail implemented on his hair is also quite stunning. Tough noble warrior Brienne of Tarth comes right out of her battle with the hound, seen here wielding her sizeable sword. The paint work on Brienne is not only very detailed, but the texture work on her amour and boots have also been subject to a lot of attention. Finally, we come to Arya Stark, less threatening looking than Brienne of the Tarth, but nonetheless extremely detailed and comes with her detachable sword, ready for combat. As well as all the figures from funko being being well detailed with fine paint jobs, they’re also a good weight underlying their quality. Game of Thrones fans will do very well to add these finely detailed works of art to their collection.
