It’s been doing the round on the internet for the past couple of days, but it seems like all the hubbub surrounding Konami and Hideo Kojima has taken a saddening turn.

Silent Hills, the horror project that was in the works by Kojima-san and Guillemore Del Toro, has today been confirmed as not continuing by Konami.

Kotaku broke the news on this, with the following statement from Konami:

Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.

The optimist in me tells me that Silent Hills in its original form may have progressed beyond the original vision that was suggested at the end of the PT teaser demo that launched during gamescom last year.

One can hope anyways…
