Ubisoft Montreal’s upcoming first person shooter has been on the watch list for a long time and on May 14, a stunning teaser trailer was released with a release date set in stone. The Rainbow Six franchise series has dominated the tactical shooter field since the first game released in 1998 and has arguably gone on from success to success with the major titles including fan favourites: Vegas and Vegas 2.
Fans were ultimately left devastated when teased with Rainbow Six: Patriots, which was abruptly cancelled. Therefore, since the Vegas games, there has been no RS game on console since 2008!
Squad based combat and realism are often the main selling points for this franchise. The upcoming instalment is set to focus on a fresh perspective on destructible environments, similar to Battlefield; where players are going to need to sharpen their tactical skills and battle terrorists in ever-changing environments.
A number of collector’s edition variants have also been announced for Europe, Asia and the Middle East (American details to be confirmed at a later date). The Tactical Elite Edition, which is an exclusive Uplay version of the game will include:
- The full game with a collector’s box
- A Gold Skins pack for all in-game weapons
- Exclusive Tactical Guide detailing key elements of the game with input from developers and gamers.
- Season Pass
The Art of Siege Edition will include all of the above without the season pass.
The Gold Edition which will have both the standard edition and season pass included.
Rainbow Six: Siege is slowly looking to shape into what could easily become a next-gen classic.
Released on October 13 and only available on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. More information can be found on the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege website.
