The Evil Within was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated horror releases for next (and old) gen consoles. Directed by the grandfather of survival horrors, Shinji Mikami, The Evil Within was overwhelmed with positive reception for its horror elements.
The primary antagonist of the game, ‘The Keeper’ returns in the latest DLC release titled ‘The Executioner’ where players will take control of him and his trusty (albeit terrifying) hammer.
It goes without saying that the hammer sounds as if it will be slightly less terrifying than previously stated as the new DLC offers a unique first person experience instead of the traditional third person approach the main game offered; placing players in a series of battle arenas where you will square off against other villains from the series in strictly melee orientated encounters… as The Keeper himself!
You heard it – you have the hammer, you play as The Keeper!
Naturally, I look forward to the prospect of whacking enemies that gave me endless grief in the main campaign (and I promise to do so without any M.C. Hammer references – honest).
This will be the final piece of DLC content for the game before the series wraps up, preceding packs being ‘The Assignment’ and ‘The Consequence’ respectively.
The DLC will be released on May 26, 2015 and for those who purchased the season pass (£14.99), you’ll be happy to know that you will be able to download the item at no extra cost, whereas users who wish to purchase the item as a standalone pack can opt to do so for a mere £3.99.
Not a bad way to see the game off, right?
