After omitting Mega Man over the last few years, Capcom announced a new compilation of some of Mega Man’s greatest hits.
Titled Mega Man Legacy Collection, this game is a celebration of the 8-bit history of Capcom’s iconic Blue Bomber. The bundle will include all 6 games from the NES/Famicon era with some added content.
The bundle will include a Museum Mode and a Challenge Mode. The latter remixes gameplay segments from all six games, with plenty of scaling difficulty objectives for experienced players to conquer yet serving as a good starting point for new players, too. While Museum Mode contains a comprehensive collection of history, high-res art and original concept pieces – a mega treat for any fan of Mega Man and video game history.
Developer Digital Eclipse is tasked of bringing this compilation to PS4/Xbox One/3DS and will do so through their Eclipse Engine by rebuilding from the game’s original source elements.

“Movies have the Criterion Collection, but there hasn’t been anything like that for games […] We’re living in the golden age of a brand new form of artistic expression, and we’re not doing a very good job of making sure our games will be available five years from now, let alone fifty. The more we can do right now to take video game preservation seriously, the safer our history will be.”
Featuring faithful reproductions of the series’ origins with the original six Mega Man games, the Legacy Collection will remind long-time fans and introduce newcomers to what made Mega Man such a popular and iconic character.
Mega Man Legacy Collection will release digitally this Summer for $14,99 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo 3DS is expected to release next Winter.
