Announced during yesterday’s Microsoft E3 Press conference, the Xbox One will be graced with a backward compatibility functionality which will allow players to play their Xbox 360 catalog, physical and digital, on their shiny Xbox One. Microsoft just unveiled the first 22 compatible games:
- A Kingdom for Keflings
- A World of Keflings
- Alien Hominid HD
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Tooie
- BattleBlock Theater
- Defense Grid
- Geometry Wars Evolved
- Hexic HD

- Kameo
- Mass Effect
- N+
- Perfect Dark
- Perfect Dark Zero
- Small Arms

- Toy Soldiers
- Toy Soldiers: Cold War
- Viva Piñata

- Zuma
As far as digital games are concerned, a Microsoft representative stated that they “will automatically show up in the ‘Ready to Install’ section on your Xbox One“, while physical games will require you to “insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive” add the representative. Obviously, like Xbox One games, you’ll need to keep the disc in order to play the game. Additionally game saves will be transferable via the Cloud.
Thanks to MCV.
