Halo 5: Guardians has earned more than $400 million in global sales of both the game and Halo-flavoured hardware, making it the most successful Halo game launch of all time.
In the UK, Halo 5: Guardians day one gross revenue exceeded the first-day box office revenue for Spectre, generating £7.7 million compared to £6.3 million respectively.
Already players have logged more than 21 million hours in playtime, 12 million of which is just during the campaign.
But that’s not all. Last week’s live launch Halo 5: Live is now the most-watched video game launch of all time, drawing more than 330,000 unique live viewers, and 5.5 million subsequent views as people caught up throughout the week.
“The game represents all the possibilities of Xbox One,” said Xbox boss Phil Spencer, “and has earned its place as the anchor title in the greatest holiday games lineup in Xbox history.”
“The success of ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ is a testament to the innovative work from the entire team at 343 Industries to bring this installment to Xbox One and the incredible community of fans who have come to love the story, characters and gameplay central to the franchise.”
