In the latest update for the Xbox One, the capability to navigate the dashboard menu using Kinect has been discontinued.
In an interview with Windows Central, Mike Ybarra of Xbox revealed that this move was due to the usage of this system being “very, very low”. He did mention that they would continue to monitor feedback to see if people want them to return.
After news of this broke, a Microsoft representative made a statement to Gamespot in order to clarify that the Kinect can still be used for Kinect-enabled games, video calls through Skype on Xbox One and for biometric sign-in.
So, are you fine with this move? Or do you feel a wee bit less futuristic now? Is this small move reflective of the ultimate superiority of the current controller? Or is this news trifling and hardly indicative of larger trends?

Perfectly content with this. I never used the gesture controls, and honestly, I had forgotten they were there in the first place. However, I would be far more upset if they killed off the voice commands. Those I use every day for navigation around the dashboard, recording clips, taking screenshots and even turning the console on and off.
Gesture control removal is fine, but don’t touch my voice controls. Those are mission critical for me.
