One of the trailers that got players talking at Sony’s PSX 2015 keynote conference was definitely Square Enix’s remake of the wildly successful Final Fantasy VII.
As you can see in the new trailer above, we get our first glimpse at the remake’s gameplay along with returning characters such as Barrett. Players are sure to recognize familiar environments: Sector 7 slums, the Sector 1 Mako Reactor, and some of the streets of Midgar. We can see Cloud roaming around the city and the game’s new combat system, which is more action oriented and seems similar to the one we saw in the PSP’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
An interesting note at the end of the trailer, it states “Play it first on Playstation 4” which could indicate that the game could be coming to additional platforms at a later date.
Additionally, Square Enix released the PC port of FFVII on PSN. Purchasing this millionth port of the popular game will reward players with a unique Final Fantasy VII Remake PS4 Theme.
Unfortunately, Square Enix hasn’t released a release timetable for this highly anticipated remake. For more details, head over to Sony’s Playstation blog.
