Yesterday, SteamDB was updated with package names from Valve’s new help website. These packages may or may not indicate titles that will be released- SteamDB listings ordinarily translate into actual releases but this isn’t a hard and fast rule.
One of the new titles found listed on SteamDB is Half Life 3. It was all very exciting. Some of the other games listed are:
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster
NeoGAF and various gaming websites caught news of this story and now SteamDB has published a blog post about how they came across these listings. It seems they ran a script to find packages listed on the help website and then searched to see what the last known name of the package was. This was during the period of time where hidden games were showing up accidentally on the Steam help site due to an update Valve was implementing.
For the statement in full, head here.
SteamDB also went to lengths to say that, whilst many of the leaks they’ve provided in the past have proven accurate, there have been instances where they’ve proven wrong. For example, Halo 3 was rumoured to be coming to Steam and that has not yet happened.
Specifically, they want to warn you: “TLDR: Half-Life 3 still not confirmed”.
Bad Rats Show seems to be a thing though. I hope that’s of comfort to you.
