Mobile gaming is expected to earn more revenue in 2015 than console gaming, and by 2017 it will also overtake PC gaming. In the past the main choice for gamers has been between PCs and consoles, so this increase in mobile gaming has really shaken up the industry, as it is not something that would have ever been predicted ten or so years ago. It is also a trend that shows no sign of slowing down. There are several advantages that mobile gaming has over consoles and PCs, and this could help to explain why it has taken off so much in recent years.
Increased Use Of Smartphones And Tablets
The vast majority of people nowadays have access to either a smartphone or a tablet, and in most cases probably both. This means that the market for mobile games is constantly expanding, and it looks likely that it will continue to do so. As phones and tablets become more advanced, improved gameplay and graphics mean that mobile games will start to appeal to more and more people, and that their popularity will only increase. Of course not everyone that uses a mobile phone will be using it to play games, but this argument is also true for anyone that owns a PC.
 Convenience
A mobile game is there whenever you get a spare few minutes to play it, and wherever you are. You do not need to be physically in front of a screen in the same way as you would a PC or console, all you need is access to your phone. If you are waiting at the bus stop, or want to kill a bit of time on your lunch break, then these games will be ready and waiting for you to play them. Since most of us always have our phones with us, these games are available on a 24 hour basis, and you do not have to be at home to play them.
Availability Of Games
A quick search on the App Store or Google Play will bring up a huge number of games that are ready to be downloaded immediately. This availability means that if someone reads a review for a game and wants to try it out for themselves, they can do this there and then, and it will be ready to play within minutes. For instance here, if you are told about a game that all your friends are playing you can download it, and start playing yourself before the conversation has even ended. You do not even have to be connected to wi-fi to do this, although if you are downloading large amounts of apps you may need to keep an eye on your data limits.
Cost Of Games
Mobile games can be bought for a couple of dollars, and in many cases they are actually free. This means that people are more likely to download games just to try out, and even if they do not enjoy them, they don’t feel as if they have really lost anything. While these games won’t be on the same scale as PC games that costs tens of dollars, they are still enjoyable ways to pass the time and are accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget.
 Variety Of Games
Whatever type of game you enjoy playing the most, the chances are that you will find this type of game on a mobile device. Mobile games tend to cover most different categories such as puzzle, strategy, action and adventure. Such a broad range of games means that all tastes are catered for, and this will ultimately lead to more players using these games. Of course, PC and console games also have a wide range of different game types to choose from, but these are not so easily accessible.
 Access To The Internet
Not all games that are played on mobile phones need to be apps that are downloaded, many can be accessed via mobile internet. This is especially true for games that can be played at online casinos. According to the latest gambling news, this seems to be one area of gaming where playing on a mobile is by far the preferred method, as the gameplay is often of a superior quality to that which you find when using a PC. As mobile internet speeds become faster, the use of online games that connect to the internet will almost certainly increase.
Although mobile gaming looks set to overtake both PCs and consoles in terms of the revenues that it earns, most people tend to agree that this will not spell the end for these other two devices. There will continue to be a demand for these because they do offer gamers features which mobile games do not. However, developers of games for PCs and consoles might like to consider branching out into mobile gaming as well, in order to ensure that they do not find themselves in a situation where their games are not selling as well as they would have hoped.
