According to Middle Of Nowhere Gaming, we could be shooting up some zombies with friends online in the RE universe later this year.
They managed to get their hands on a report mentioning that an unnamed Indie studio located in Canada has been working on an HD remaster of the first Resident Evil Outbreak
“The studio I was working at had been working on a Resident Evil Outbreak like clone for a couple years as a side project. After awhile, we pitched it to Capcom in March 2015 and they were impressed, but did not green-light the game. Unexpectedly however, in late June 2015, my boss got a call from Capcom telling us they want us to develop an HD edition of Outbreak, which we are.” says the source.
The report also states that they finished and tested Outbreak and Below Freezing Point, two chapters of the first Outbreak game. The report doesn’t indicate any mention of the inclusion of a remastered edition of Outbreak File #2.
The anonymous source also points to Capcom releasing the game next Fall with a full reveal at E3 2016:
“The deadline for the game to go gold as part of our contract is May 2016. So its probably going to be revealed at E3 2016, which would make sense. […] for 100% sure, expect REOHD sometime this year. Probably around Fall.” adds the indie studio employee.
Frequent readers of GGS might remember that I mentioned the Outbreak game as an ideal remaster project.
Another interesting (or disinteresting) tidbit about the report is that the previously leaked current-gen port of Resident Evil 6 is indeed coming:
“Anyways, one of these announcements is that Resident Evil 6 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One. That is all I know about that.” states the report.
As with any rumor, take this with a grain of salt, but if this ends up being real, it’s about time as today’s technology will ensure a much more fluid and enjoyable experience than on PS2.
Huge thanks to Middle Of Nowhere Gaming.
