Frogwares Game Development studio today announced that their new game, Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, will be releasing May 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Frogwares made 2014’s Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments- which is generally considered to be quite good by many people. Like me, for instance. So this should be quite good news.
The Devil’s Daughter might be a bit tonally different from Crimes and Punishments, though. For a start, the new Holmes looks to be less of a Dostoyevsky-appreciator and more a pulp-action hero. I mean, look at the promo picture:
From the press release:
*Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter*, the eighth game in the series, is a fantasy adventure game with unique gameplay blending investigation, action and exploration for an extraordinary experience that will test the limits of players’ nerves and intelligence.
The plot, meanwhile, looks to have a more personal focus than the previous games. Sherlock is described as being ”caught between family, dark forces and powerful thirsts for vengeance”.
But will it make more sense than the last episode of TV’s Sherlock?
The answer to that question is yes.
