Hyrule Warriors: Legends will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS exclusively on March 24. It is an expanded port of Hyrule Warriors, a game that was released solely on the Wii U.
Hyrule Warriors takes characters from The Legend of Zelda games and applies the game-play of Koei’s Warriors series (i.e. a lot of hack-and-slash).
In Legend Mode, the over-riding plotline is inspired by the events of The Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Link will team up with Impa, Sheik and The White Sorceress, Lana, to save Hyrule. Players will be able to switch between up to four characters in the midst of battle.
More than that, Hyrule Warriors: Legends, comes with two new original stories: a four chapter epilogue to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and a five-chapter introduction to the new character of Linkle.
Linkle is not, according to Polygon, according to Nintendo representatives, “not just a “female Link”.’ She is a dual-crossbow-wielding Cucco farmer who believes her heirloom compass means she is destined for greatness.
As well as Linkle, a few more characters make their debut to the Hyrule Warriors series. Toon Link, Tetra and King Daphnes from The Wind Waker and Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. If you purchase Legends, you should get a code that means you can import the character to your Wii U game. These are only available to use in Adventure and Free Mode, however.
Legends will be playable on both older versions of the Nintendo 3DS as well as the newer 3DS and 3DS XL ones. Although, naturally, the newer ones will offer ”an enhanced experience made possible by the additional horsepower”.
