2K and Turtle Rock have revealed that Evolve is now available under the Free to play model on PC.
This new way to play is part of Evolve Stage 2 which includes new game design, gameplay mechanics, and improved gameplay balance and system performance.
Chris Ashton and Phil Robb, co-founders of Turtle Rock Studios explain why they are changing the model and the impact on the players., which you should read on the forums here.
“We want that magic back and we aim to make it happen. We’ve made a lot of changes, improvements and additions to Evolve over the past year and we’ve got a lot more coming. In short, we’re giving this game a vigorous overhaul!”
Evolve Stage 2 is an entirely new beast with a ton of changes and content in the BETA which is currently available on PC.
“Evolve has been completely overhauled on PC with new game design, gameplay mechanics, and improved gameplay balance and system performance. All of the content in Evolve, including all the content released following its launch, is unlockable in Evolve Stage 2 completely free simply by playing the game.”
Additionally, players who already own the original Evolve game of new players opting to grab a digital copy of the game will be automatically upgraded to Stage 2 and receive the Founder Status in-game.
