Set for release in early 2017, NieR: Automata is looking to be a worthy successor to the previous gen title. Today Square Enix has announced it’s working in collaboration with developer Platinum Games to bring the staple Final Fantasy XV weapon, the Engine Blade, to the action-rpg when it launches.

The Engine Blade, as used by Noctis in the game, will also feature as a weapon in NieR: Automata for protagonist 2B. Equipping the Engine Blade will also alter the evasion effects and damage display to match the style of Final Fantasy XV.

There are also plans to include content from the NieR series in Final Fantasy XV though more information will follow at a later date. Final Fantasy XV launches this coming Tuesday, November 29, while NieR: Automate is scheduled for Early 2017.
